The family behind Owl's Nest

Our welcome

A personal welcome

Family photo — pending

Owl's Nest is looked after by our family. We live between city days and mountain weekends, and we shaped this flat to be the sort of place we like to arrive at ourselves — warm the moment you step in, quiet when you want it, and close enough to everything in the Haslital that you can leave the car and simply walk.

We are, all five of us, incurable readers — and a few other things besides:

  • Laurenceteacher, masseuse, homeopath and marathon runner, and the mother who holds it all together. She reads more than the rest of us combined, and her patience is, we're fairly certain, a world record.
  • Moshean entrepreneur and incurable tinkerer with anything technical, a basketball coach and player who reads late into the night and has gone diving in more corners of the globe than he can quite keep count of.
  • Ilayour cook and our hunter, and the keeper of the most contagious laugh you will ever hear.
  • Liama lover of fine scents and a natural charmer, the kind of boy who could sell sand in the desert.
  • Mayaa Capoeira practitioner and crochet enthusiast, currently and very seriously in the running for prettiest girl in her class.

And no household is complete without its animals:

  • Whiskeyour dog, the four-legged heart of the household, who greets every visitor as though they were a long-lost friend.
  • Cacio e Pepeour two cats, named after the pasta and every bit as particular about the warmest spot in the house.

The whole crew lives with us, not in the flat — Owl's Nest itself is kept pet-free, so guests with allergies can breathe easy. Between us we have a good sense of what makes a place feel like home, and we've tried to fold all of it into Owl's Nest. Whatever you need during your stay, we're only a message away. Welcome — make yourself at home under the rafters.

The name

High in the eaves of Meiringen

The name describes where it sits: tucked under the timber rafters of the top floor, the way a nest sits under the eaves. The renovation completes with the first guests in December 2026.
