Some of the valley's best walks begin within minutes of the flat — a waterfall, a limestone gorge, riverside paths, and trails that climb from the valley floor to alpine ridgelines.
Right from the flat
The Reichenbach Falls are an easy walk away — climb beside the water, or ride the historic funicular and stroll back down. A little further along the valley, the Aare Gorge offers a near-level walkway of about 1.4 kilometres through a limestone ravine; allow roughly an hour there and back.
Into the mountains
Take the gondola up to Hasliberg and the ridge walks open up — gentle panoramic paths around Bidmi and the Mägisalp, or longer routes toward the Planplatte with the whole Bernese Oberland laid out below. Trails range from short family loops to full mountain days.
Lakeside & easy days
For a change of pace, a short train or bus hop reaches the Brienzersee for lakeside walks and the Ballenberg open-air museum. Closer to home, level paths follow the Aare and the Alpbach through and around the village.
